Hall of Fame
Alford is one of the players generally recognized as part of the group who started the Gannon men's basketball team's winning tradition. He arrived on the scene in 1961 and immediately led the Golden Knights to their first NCAA playoff berth in school history. An alumnus of the basketball hotbed of Farrell, Alford always drew the toughest defensive assignment for the Knights, while still finding time to score over 1,000 points. He was a four-year regular (1961-65) during which the Knights won 76 of 98 games under the combined coaching of George Hesch and Jim Harding.
