If Glen Summors was the player of the 60s, and Butch Warner was the player of the 80s, then Gerald Walker was the player of the 70s. The 6’6” forward from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania stands as Gannon’s second all-time scorer with 1,979 points and third career rebounder with 1,027. In 105 career games wearing the Maroon and Gold, “Bad News” averaged 18.8 points and 9.8 rebounds. His best season statistically came in 1972-73, when he averaged 23.7 points and 12.5 rebounds. Walker led the Knights in scoring his final three seasons, and was the top rebounder as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, he led the 1974-75 team to a 25-4 record and a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals, as the Knights won the East Regional. (Rankings prior to 2008-09 season)
