Habjan was the only golfer in Gannon history at the time of induction to receive All-America laurels in two consecutive seasons. The Penn Hills, Pa., native participated on the Knights' golf team from 1979-83 and helped lead them to the NCAA Tournament. Habjan participated in the NCAA Golf Tournament as an individual entrant in 1981, as a sophomore, and in 1982 as a junior. In his senior campaign, he led the entire Gannon squad to the NCAA Tournament. The four-year letterwinner received All-America honorable-mention accolades in the Spring of 1982 and garnered All-America second-team laurels following his senior campaign in 1983. Throughout his successful career, he captured 12 first-place finishes for the Knights. As a senior, he placed among the top four finishers in 12 tournaments and captured five championships. He led the squad with a 76.2 average. Also, as a senior, he finished in the second slot of the ECAC Regional Tournament. The team placed second in the ECAC Regionals and fourth overall at the ECAC Championships. When Habjan sunk the final putt of his Gannon golf career, he walked off the 18th green as one of the most outstanding golfers and athletes in Gannon athletic history. In the process, he helped elevate the Gannon golf program into one of the premier Division II programs.
