Doug Joseph (Wrestling) is the only individual national champion in school history, winning the 197-pound national championship in 2001. He joins the 1962 bowling team as the only national champions in school history. Joseph wrestled two seasons at Gannon (1999-00 and 2000-01) after qualifying for the NCAA Division I Championships twice. While at Gannon, he then qualified twice for the NCAA Division II National Championships after winning the NCAA Division II East Region championship both years.

The Export, Pa., native finished his two-year Gannon career with a 40-9 record and .816 winning percentage. Joseph won eight of his 10 career dual match-ups, ending five via a pin. His senior campaign featured the ninth-best single-season winning percentage (.844) in school history and 22nd-highest single-season victory total (27) all-time at Gannon.
