Hesch is a former player and coach for the Gannon men's basketball team. Hesch, a 5’11” guard, ranks 16th in all-time scoring with 1,308 points as of the 2008-09 season. The native of Warren, Pennsylvania was the first Knight to score 1,000 career points. He was his team’s leading scorer as a junior (1953-54) and senior (1954-55), averaging 16.4 and 20.1 points respectively. Hesch twice scored 34 points in a game. “Ace”, as he was known, returned to coach the Golden Knights from 1961-63, compiling a 29-21 record in his two seasons. His 1961-62 squad finished 16-9, and his 1962-63 team went 13-12. Hesch has also been elected for the Northwestern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. Hesch remained a member of the Gannon family later in his life, serving as a faculty member in the School of Sciences.
