Gannon University Athletics has firmly established itself as a leader in NCAA Division II. The Golden Knights captured the prestigious Dixon Trophy, awarded to the top overall program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), three times in the past four years (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2024-25). Nationally, Gannon finished tied for 20th in the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Learfield Directors' Cup standings, marking one of the highest finishes in department history and showcasing the success of Gannon's 23 varsity programs.
The 2025-26 academic year was highlighted by the Gannon men's basketball team capturing the first NCAA national championship in both program and university history. In addition, Dorian Crosby became a national champion at 285 pounds, earning Gannon's first individual NCAA Division II wrestling national title since 2003.
But our achievements go far beyond the scoreboard!
In the 2025-26 academic year, Gannon student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom, competition, and the community while competing at the highest level of NCAA Division II athletics. The Golden Knights captured three PSAC championships, highlighted by the men's soccer team winning the first conference title in program history, advanced deep into NCAA postseason competition, and welcomed thousands of fans to venues including the Highmark Events Center, McConnell Family Stadium, and Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool.
Gannon Athletics also remained committed to making a difference beyond the playing field. During the 2025-26 academic year, the department raised $13,549.69 for Make-A-Wish and hosted its eighth Wish Reveal, creating a memorable experience for a local child and family. In recognition of its ongoing efforts and impact, Gannon was named a finalist for the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence for its contributions to Make-A-Wish and community engagement initiatives.
