Johnson came to Gannon in 1966 from Camden (N.J.) High School and went on to be a regular for the Gannon men's basketball team the next four seasons. His aggressiveness under the boards and good moves around the key enabled him to be one of the leading rebounders and scorers for the Knights. His finest season came in 1967-68 when he was third in scoring (418 points, 15.4 avg.), second in rebounding (242 rebs., 8.9 avg.), and he shot over 50 percent from the floor. Johnson was ninth on Gannon's all-time scoring list upon his induction.
