Gannon University Athletics

   
The 1992 Women's Volleyball Team is the eighth Gannon team inducted in the Hall of Fame, but the first volleyball squad. The 1992 squad still holds the school records for victories in a season (40) and winning percentage (.952). The Lady Knights won the NCAA Division II East Region and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight before concluding the season with a 40-2 record. It was the second of three consecutive NCAA Division II East Region championships and NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances for the Gannon volleyball program.

The memorable squad was coached by Gannon Hall of Famer Gerry Burbules Vensel '92M. Team members included Katie Butterbaugh Kuiper '97, Paula Grom Hunter '96, Kelli Martin Hixon '97, Marla McElhaney Wyland '95, Missy Necina Soboleski '93, Janet Palmieri Parks '93, Gannon Hall of Famer Heather Petras Primrose '96, Jessica Rairie Carter '93, Kelley Roth Burton '96, Mary Winnert Johnson '95, Dawn Woods Paliotheodoros '94 and Gannon Hall of Famer Kathy Wotus Kuhns '93. Burbules Vensel was also assisted by team manager Mike Salovay '95.
