CREDENTIALS
All media credentials should be arranged by writing or calling the Gannon Sports Information Office, preferably one week in advance. All credentials will be limited to working press only, and will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis up to the press box or press table capacity.
PRESS BOX
Gannon’s working facilities at McConnell Family Stadium are located on the south side of the facility. The press box contains three booths. Space is available for the home coaching staff, two radio stations, and several members of the media. Visiting coaching staffs and television accommodations can be found on the second level of the press box.
PRESS TABLE
Gannon's working facilities at the Highmark Events Center are located on the west side (bench side) of the facility. Space is limited and credentials are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is available for one visiting radio station.
PHOTOGRAPHERS
Credentials for sideline photography should be requested in writing per credentials guidelines. Photography credentials are issued to media and department photographers only. Photographers must remain outside the restraining line enclosing the field at McConnell Family Stadium and must remain off the court at all times at the Highmark Events Center and in designated areas. SERVICES
Working media and scouts will be supplied with media guides, gameday programs, and pre-game notes and statistics. Complete halftime statistics will be available, with a complete statistics package and play-by-play provided at the completion of the contest.
RADIO
Permission to broadcast must be obtained from the Director of Athletics Media Relations at least two weeks in advance of the game. Space to accommodate one visiting radio station is available. Gannon provides a courtesy telephone line for visiting radio stations free of charge. The courtesy line number at McConnell Family Stadium is (814) 871-5776 while the courtesy line number at the Highmark Events Center is (814) 871-7326.
TELEVISION
Special arrangements must be made with the Director of Athletics.
INTERVIEWS
All requests for interviews with players and coaches must be made through the SID Office or head coach and not through the players. No interviews will be granted Friday evening or Saturday prior to football contests or the prior to any sporting event. Post-game interviews will follow a 10-minute “cooling off” period after the contest. All weekday interviews will take place before or after practice unless otherwise arranged differently.
PRIVACY RESTRICTIONS
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) went into effect on April 14, 2003. Although the law was not initially intended for intercollegiate athletics, the law holds the university liable for its intent. Thus, Gannon University will not be allowed to comment on any health-related questions concerning our student-athletes. This pertains to coaches, student-athletes, the athletic training staff or anyone associated with Gannon University. We ask that you please don’t ask questions concerning any injuries or health-related issues. All Gannon personnel have been instructed to answer those types of questions with the following response. “Considering the HIPAA law, University policy does not allow me to discuss that.” If you have any questions regarding the HIPAA law and Gannon’s policy, please call the Athletics Media Relations office at (814) 871-7418 or (814) 871-7008.
