Lawson is one of the players generally recognized as part of the group who started the Gannon men's basketball team's winning tradition. He arrived on the scene in 1961 and immediately led the Golden Knights to their first NCAA playoff berth in school history. Lawson, a slender 6'2" product of Homestead, Pa., ranks 10th in career scoring with 1,425 career points as of the 2008-09 season. He was also an outstanding rebounder. Lawson was a four-year regular (1961-65) during which the Knights won 76 of 98 games under the combined coaching of George Hesch and Jim Harding.
