He was a two-time All-American (2008-09 and 2009-10) who placed fifth in the NCAA Championships as a junior and claimed seventh as a senior. He was a three-time National Qualifier who finished as the NCAA Regional runner-up as a junior and senior, and took fourth as a sophomore.
McGrath went 80-25 in four seasons, and his .762 winning percentage ranks fifth in Gannon history. His 28-4 record in dual meets gave him a dual winning percentage of .875, which ranks fourth.
His 29 pins tie him for sixth in Gannon history. He had a career-best 15 pins as a junior when he finished 32-8, including a 10-0 dual-meet record. He went 26-6 as a senior, including a 10-1 mark in duals, and had 10 pins.
McGrath's most high-profile victory was a pin in the final match of the 2007 War on the Shore against Mercyhurst, which gave Gannon a memorable 24-23 victory.
Off the mat, McGrath made the 2009-10 Academic All-American First Team and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team, and he received the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award as a senior. He was also a PSAC Scholar-Athlete as a junior and senior.
He graduated from Gannon with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2010 and earned his Master of Business Administration in 2013.
At the time of his induction, he worked as a Mechanical Sourcing Leader for Wabtec. McGrath is married to Stephanie McGrath.
