David Leven '97 (Football) was a three-time All-American, being selected to a pair of preseason teams in 1994 and 1995, before landing a spot on an all-america postseason team following his senior campaign in 1995. The defensive lineman earned back-to-back All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) accolades as a junior and senior. He graduated as Gannon's all-time leader in sacks (23.5) and tackles for a loss (46). Leven performed the rare feat of having sacks in 10 consecutive games that started with the final two games of his sophomore season and continued through the first eight games of his junior campaign.
The Monroeville, Pa., native became the third student-athlete in program history to play in the NCAA Division II All-Star Game when he started for the East Team in the 1996 Snow Bowl that was televised nationally. Leven still holds the program's single-season sack record, hauling down 11 quarterbacks as a junior in 1994. No other Golden Knight in program history has recorded more than nine sacks in a single season. He graduated fourth all-time at Gannon in solo tackles (99) and sixth in total tackles (196).
