Academic Success

The Gannon University athletic department was recently awarded the Dixon Trophy for the third time in the last four years. The award is presented to the most successful athletic program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

But Gannon also takes great pride in the achievements of its student-athletes in the classroom. Golden Knight student-athletes recently completed another unprecedented semester academically. After posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.41 during the Fall 2024 semester, Gannon's 647 student-athletes exceeded that number in the Spring 2025 semester. They produced an overall GPA of 3.497 in the spring.

About 76 percent (494) of the students playing sports at Gannon achieved a 3.0 GPA or better for the spring semester, including 100 student-athletes who recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The 12 women's intercollegiate teams produced a combined 3.568 GPA during Spring 2025, with all 12 posting at least a 3.28 GPA. The nine men's intercollegiate teams produced a combined 3.402 GPA. Like the women, all nine men's programs had a GPA of at least 3.00.

Men's Cross Country had the highest GPA of 3.773, followed by Women's Cross Country and Volleyball, both at 3.742.

During the 2025 Spring semester, Kyle Westfall was the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award in Men’s Golf.  In addition, Ryan Barclay repeated as the PSAC Champion Scholar in men’s swimming. The men’s wrestling team had ten wrestlers named NWCA Scholar All-Americans while the women’s team had six Scholar All-Americans. Five softball players and four members if the baseball team earned CSC Academic All-District® Team honors, along with two women’s basketball players.
