• The Short Story: The Gannon wrestling team placed nine wrestlers in the top five of their respective weight classes and finished second out of 15 teams Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Super Regional One hosted Mercyhurst University. Three Golden Knights finished runner-up and five qualified for the national championships. Gannon's team finish and number of national qualifiers represented the program's most since placing second and qualifying six during the 2010 NCAA Division II East Regional.

• Gannon is listed among others receiving votes in the latest Wrestling Coaches Association (WCA) Top 25 Poll and tabbed No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II Super Region One rankings released this week.
• The Golden Knights' six championship semifinalists were their most since at least the 2007-08 season. The program also had all 10 wrestlers still alive after the first day for the first time since at least the 2007-08 campaign. Historical records are incomplete prior to that season.
• Ciotti (133), Lewandowski (157) and Costa (184) finished runner-up in their respective weight classes.
• Ciotti, Lewandowski, Costa, Stratton (174) and Budd (Hwt.) qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships. Budd will be making his second national championship appearance while the other four will be on the national stage for the first time.
