Ten Golden Knights Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

NOTE: The NWCA released its 2025 NCAA Men's Scholar All-American Awards on Monday. An error in the release omitted a number of Gannon wrestlers. Here is an updated version including all Gannon honorees.

MANHEIM, Pa. -- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the recipients of the 2025 NCAA Men's Scholar All-American Awards. The Gannon men's wrestling team had ten wrestlers earn NWCA Scholar All-American honors.

Three of the Golden Knight grapplers have now earned the honor multiple times. Hayden Butterfield (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Chase McLaughlin (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown Area) are now three-time NWCA Scholar All-Americans and Nick Coreno (Willoughby, Ohio/Lake Catholic) has been recognized twice.

The NWCA Scholar All-American Award recognizes outstanding student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:

• All-American at the 2025 NCAA DII National Championships and 3.00 GPA
• National Qualifier to the 2025 NCAA DII National Championships and 3.25 GPA
• Competed in 4 or more events and 3.5 GPA
