HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon produced the first run during its initial at-bat. Senior Andrew Wagner (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) singled to center field with one out and stole second base. He later came home on freshman Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge)'s two-out, RBI single to right field.
  • Seton Hill tied the contest with a run of its own during the bottom of the first inning.
  • Gannon regained the lead with a solo home run by Cardy to left field during the top of the third inning.
  • The Golden Knights added a three-run spot during the top of the fourth inning. Junior Charles Benack (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) pushed the first run across with a bases-loaded hit by pitch on a 2-2 count.
  • Two more runs followed due to a fielding error by the Seton Hill second baseman, pushing the lead to 5-1.
  • After Seton Hill scored a single run during the bottom of the fourth inning, Gannon appeared to put the game out of reach with two runs during both the fifth and sixth innings.
  • A two-run blast by Callaway to left field accounted for the fifth-inning runs.
  • Junior Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) scored on a wild pitch and Cardy crossed the plate on Colosi's RBI single to left field during the top of the sixth inning, pushing the Golden Knights in front 9-2.
  • Seton Hill wouldn't go down without a fight, scoring twice during the sixth inning and five more times in the seventh.
  • After Austin Braendel's second home run of the game cut the Gannon lead to 9-8, junior Joey Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) came out of the bullpen to get the final out and secure the victory.
