Biography

Piechnick is one of Gannon’s returning outfielders with starting experience as a senior in 2018 … transferred from NCAA Division I Rider (N.J.) University of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) prior to the 2016-17 campaign.

2017: Played in eight games during his first season as a Golden Knight, starting six … received five starting assignments in right field and one in center field … made his Gannon debut with a pinch-hit double during a 10-8 victory at Limestone (S.C.) in the Golden Knights’ second game of the season and came around to score his first run … stayed in the game and drew a walk later in the contest … had three successful sacrifice hits at California (Pa.) … scored a season-high two runs at Seton Hill … went 1-for-2 with one run during the regular-season finale against Clarion.

At Rider: Saw action in 27 games during two seasons, starting six … committed zero errors in 23 career fielding opportunities … played in 19 games as a sophomore with five starts … saw action in eight games as a true freshman, starting one as the designated hitter … had a pinch-hit RBI single during a victory at Lafayette … was a member of the Rider Dean’s List as a freshman and sophomore.

High School: Played for head coach Frank Zebrasky at Canon-McMillan (Pa.) High School … was a three-year starter … produced a .418 career batting average … generated 71 hits and  10 home runs during his high school career … was a two-time all-section honoree, being named to the first team as a senior and honorable-mention squad as a junior … earned a pair of all-district honors, securing first-team honors as a senior and honorable-mention accolades as a sophomore … named a finalist for District Player of the Year after his final campaign … served as a team captain … was a District All-Star Game participant as a senior … named to the Almanac Diamond Dozen All-Star and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-Star teams as a senior … helped Canon-McMillan advanced to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) postseason all four years … was part of a section championship as a junior … named a Distinguished Honor Student … was a member of the National Honor Society and Latin Honor Society.

Personal: Psychology major … is the son of Sherry and Craig … has one sister and one brother.
