HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon was the first to reach home with three runs during the bottom of the second inning. Junior Gregory Nicolia (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) started the scoring with a two-out, two-run double to center field. Senior Andrew Wagner (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) followed with another double to plate Nicolia for a 3-0 lead.
  • However, the Golden Knights were unable to add on. Indiana (Pa.) started to chip away with a single run during the top of the fifth inning.
  • Gannon still held a 3-1 lead when IUP knotted the contest on Matt Eperesi's one-out, two-run home run that sailed over the fence just inside the left field foul pole during the top of the seventh inning.
  • The Golden Knights had a runner in scoring position with one out during the seventh and eighth innings, but were unable to score the winning run.
  • After withstanding Gannon's scoring attempts, Indiana (Pa.) plated four unearned runs with two outs during the top of the ninth inning. The go-ahead run came home on a bases-loaded walk. Back-to-back singles then drove in three insurance runs.
  • The Golden Knights could only manage a walk during the bottom of the frame, before dropping a 7-3 decision.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Wagner recorded two of Gannon's six hits, finishing 2-for-4 with one RBI.
  • Nicolia went 1-for-1 with three walks, one run, two RBIs.
  • Senior Santiago Mendez (Potterville, Mich./Lansing Eastern) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, before receiving a no-decision. He allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven and walking four.
  • Junior Joey Colosi (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) and sophomore Nick Fuchs (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds) logged 2 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run despite IUP scoring four times during that time.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon is ranked fifth in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Poll.
  • IUP snapped a five-game losing streak at McConnell Family Stadium, winning for the first time since a 3-2 victory on April 19, 2014.
  • Wagner recorded his fifth multiple-hit game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Indiana (Pa.) pounced on Gannon with four runs over its first two at-bats.
  • The Golden Knights fought back with a single run during the bottom of the second inning and three more in the third. Junior Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) manufactured the first run with a lead-off walk and two stolen bases. A throwing error on the second swipe allowed Cox to score the first run.
  • The big third inning consisted of an RBI infield single by redshirt sophomore Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin), RBI double by freshman Elijah Quiceno (Berryville, Va./Stonebridge) and RBI sacrifice fly by junior Cody Callaway (Elyria, Ohio/Midview).
  • Indiana (Pa.) forged ahead with three runs during the top of the fifth inning.
  • The Crimson Hawks then added insurance with one run in the sixth inning and three in the seventh inning.
  • Gannon cut into the deficit with a two-out, RBI double by Callaway during the bottom of the seventh inning, but was unable able to get closer before suffering an 11-5 loss.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
