Women's Wrestling Tied for 25th in NWCA Women's Wrestling Preseason Poll

Bazemore ranked seventh at 124 lbs.

MANHEIM, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced its 2024-25 NWCA Women's Wrestling Preseason Rankings. Among those listed in the top 25 is Gannon. The Golden Knights are in a four-way tie for 25th as the campaign gets underway.

King University edged defending national champion Iowa for the top spot in the coaches preseason poll. North Central is third with McKendree fourth and Presbyterian fifth.

Women's wrestling will have a new look this season with an adjusted set of weight classes. In addition, there are now eight regional tournaments, up from six previously. The NCWWC Tournament will take place March 7-8 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, IA.

A new-look Gannon team under second-year head coach Erin Vandiver has one wrestler in the individual rankings. Jayden Bazemore (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) is ranked seventh at 124 lbs. A junior, Bazemore qualified for the NCWWC National Championships a year ago while ending the season with a 20-12 record.

Gannon begins its second campaign under Vandiver on Sunday, November 3 at the ESU Open.
