Five Golden Knights Earn Medals at BW Women's Open

BEREA, Ohio – The Gannon women's wrestling team sent ten wrestlers to the BW Women's Open on Sunday, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace.
 
Five Golden Knights were medalists led by Brenna McCarley (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda High) who was the champion at 124 lbs. The sophomore went 4-0 with two falls and a technical fall. She defeated Kalelyn Bell of Aurora in the finals by a 10-0 technical fall.
 
Kennedy Perez (Parkland, Fla./Benjamin Franklin (Mich.)) also reached the finals and finished as the runner-up at 117 lbs. and Kamila Castro (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridhewood) placed second at 207 lbs. Jaylene Martinez (Whittier, Cal./Whittier) and Isabella McNutt (Allison Park, PA/Hampton Township) were the other placewinners, with Martinez fourth at 138 lbs. and McNutt sixth at 117.
 
The Golden Knights return to action on Saturday, December 6 hosting the Gannon Women's Duals.
