Gannon acrobatics & tumbling team to have 2 home meets in 2024, will visit national champ Baylor

Coach Brandy Duren's team will open Feb. 10 with tri-meet at Kutztown

A season-opening tri-meet, two home contests, and a late-season road trip to face perennial power Baylor highlight the 2024 schedule for the Gannon acrobatics & tumbling team.

The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association released its national schedule on Tuesday afternoon, and Fairmont State in West Virginia was revealed as the host of the 2024 NCATA National Championships.

Gannon head coach Brandy Duren's team will face eight opponents during seven regular-season dates starting with a tri-meet at Kutztown on Feb. 10 against Kutztown and East Stroudsburg.

The Golden Knights' schedule will continue with road meets at Frostburg State in Maryland on Feb. 17 and Belmont Abbey in North Carolina on Feb. 29.

Gannon's final five meets will be against teams that qualified for the NCATA national quarterfinals in 2023.

GU will host its only two home meets during a one-week span in early March. The Knights will welcome national power Azusa Pacific in their home opener on March 5 at Mullen Gymnasium at Cathedral Prep's Hagerty Family Events Center. Gannon's home meets will be held at that venue because GU's home arena, the Highmark Events Center, will be undergoing renovations in 2024.

Fairmont State will then visit Erie to face Gannon on March 11 at Mullen Gymnasium.

The highlight of Gannon's regular season will be a trip to Waco, Texas, for a March 16 meet against Baylor, which has won eight consecutive national championships.

The Knights will close the regular season with a rematch against 2023 national semifinalist Quinnipiac, which defeated Gannon in the quarterfinals.

The NCATA Championships will take place at Fairmont State from April 25-28. The first three dates of that tournament will feature the quarterfinals, semifinals, and national championship. The final day will be the National Event Finals.

GU has many top athletes returning from last season, including two-time All-America top Ali Price (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge). The Golden Knights went 6-2 during the 2023 regular season before advancing to the NCATA Championships. Gannon won a pair of NCATA Event National Championships by prevailing in the Synchronized Toss and Open Toss.
