The Gannon University Acrobatics & Tumbling team picked up a pair of NCATA Division II weekly awards, as Adyson Rothermel (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser High) was named Freshman of the Week and Paytyn Neal (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior High) earned Athlete of the Week honors following Gannon's win over No. 8 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Rothermel, a freshman back/base from Wernersville, Pa., collected her fourth consecutive Freshman of the Week honor. She competed in eight heats along with the team event, turning in three scores of 9.90 in compulsory pyramid, compulsory toss, and open pyramid.
Neal, a junior base and mid from Fairmont, W. Va., was named Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. She competed in nine heats plus the team event and matched Rothermel with three scores of 9.90 in compulsory pyramid, compulsory toss, and open pyramid.
The Golden Knights defeated No. 8 Mary Hardin-Baylor, 263.295–248.895 on Senior Night, marking their third win over a ranked opponent this season. All three ranked victories have come inside the Highmark Events Center, where Gannon finished a perfect 5-0 during the home campaign.
