Gannon University soccer standout Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain) led the nation in goals and made All-America teams for both his athletic and academic achievements.
On Friday, Del Castillo added to those accolades on Friday when he was named to the PSAC Fall Top 10.

The Top 10 Awards, selected by the PSAC's sports information directors, recognize student-athletes – five women and five men -- who distinguish themselves in the classroom and in competition. The conference designates Top 10 Award winners after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter, and spring. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve.
Del Castillo's credentials for the award were top-flight. He led NCAA Division II with 23 goals and placed third in the nation with 50 points. He twice scored five goals in a game. He also had a hat trick, a pair of two-goal games, and five game-winning goals. He finished sixth in Gannon history in career goals (52) and points (120).
Following the season, he was selected as a D2CCA First Team All-American and the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year. He also made the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team and All-PSAC First Team.
Academically, he has a 3.592 cumulative GPA as a double major in International Management and Sports Management & Marketing.
He was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team, United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team, and the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Gannon volleyball player Maggie Greenfield also made the PSAC Fall Top 10.
