Senior midfielder now a two-time All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches today released its 2025 All-America Teams with Gannon's Sverre Orten (Orsta, Norway/Aalesund vgs) receiving yet another award. The senior midfielder was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team.

The native of Orsta, Norway is now a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American. He earned first team accolades a year ago. Earlier in the week he was named the D2CCA Men's Soccer Ron Lenz Player of the Year, becoming a two-time D2CCA first team All-American. In addition he was previously named the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year and PSAC West Athlete of the Year. He is a four-time D2CCA Atlantic Region selection after earning first team honors the last three years and second team in 2022 and is a four-time first team All-PSAC West honoree.

Gannon saw its season come to an end on a Saturday with a loss at Super Region 1 No. 1 seed Southern New Hampshire in the Elite Eight. It brought to an end one of the furthest journeys in the NCAA Tournament with Orten playing a major role. Gannon ended the year with a 15-3-4 record.

With Orten leading the way Gannon won its first-ever PSAC Championship then moved on into the NCAA Tournament as the sixth seed in Super Region 1. The Golden Knights upset No. 3 seed Bentley in the opening round by a 2-1 score with Orten providing the winning goal. They added a 2-1 upset of No. 2 seed Franklin Pierce in the next round, with Orten opening the scoring.

Orten put an exclamation point on a career that ranks among the best to ever roam the pitch at Gannon. He not only leads the team in goals with 17 but that total is the best in Division II. He has added 12 assists, which is seventh nationally, for a total of 46 points. That figure leads Division II by nine points.

Orten has climbed Gannon's career record book through the year and now stands second in career assists (46) and seventh in career points (116).
