LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Gannon freshman
Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) earned PSAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week honors following his performance at the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on Friday and Saturday in Jackson Springs, N.C.
The freshman from Fleetwood, Pa., finished in a tie for second place in the individual standings with a 144 after 36 holes of competition. He led the field following his event-low and round-low of 70 during Friday's opening round to finish two under-par after 18 holes. He wrapped up the tournament with a 74 in round two and finishes just one shot behind the tournament medalist (Wayne State's Josh DiCarlo).
Gannon finished in a tie for second at the event with Davis & Elkins, as both teams shot a 594 for the tournament. Wayne State finishes atop the leaderboard with a 581 to take first place. Three Golden Knights finished in the top of the individual results, with Ruppert and
Connor Bennink (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) finishing in a tie for second, while
Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) finished in a tie for ninth with a score of 148 after 36 holes.
Gannon will return to action on Monday, April 4 at the West Liberty Invitational. The two-day event will be played at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
