Shorthanded Golden Knights Put Up Fight At Tiffin Duals

The Short Story: In just its second action of the shortened season, the Gannon women's wrestling team faced stiff competition against three top-10 teams at the Tiffin Duals Sunday. Annabelle Helm (Vancouver, Wash./Union) led the way with an unbeaten day for the Golden Knights.

Helm was one of the brightest spots of the day for the Golden Knights, putting up a perfect 3-0 day. The sophomore started off with a first-period fall against Tiffin's Morgan Davidson, then won a 3-3 bout on criteria over King's fifth-ranked Nia Crosdale. She wrapped up the afternoon with a 9-0 decision against Adrian's Jasmine Hale.
Blarr and Perez each had a pair of wins, including one each over a nationally ranked opponent. Both of those came against Tiffin in the opener, as the Knights stormed ahead midway through the tight dual. Blarr nearly got a tech fall with a 10-2 win over No. 8 Stephanie Mondragon, and Perez decked No. 7 Eunique Davis in 2:30.
Gannon was shorthanded throughout the day, having to give up points at 101 and 191 pounds. That made the difference against Tiffin, and made for an edge against Adrian as well.

UP NEXT

Gannon comes home for the first time this season next weekend, hosting the Gannon Invitational Saturday afternoon.
No fans will be permitted inside the Recreation and Wellness Center for the noon start, but live video streaming will be available.
