ERIE, Pa. - No. 17/22Â Gannon, who has won its last three games, returns to action for a nonconference series with Clarion beginning Thursday at Tippin Gym at 5:30 p.m. The two teams will then wrap up the series at Hammermill Center on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
ALUMNI WATCH PARTY
- The women's basketball Virtual Alumni Watch Party originally scheduled for Feb. 21 is back on, with the gathering taking the place of the program's annual alumni game. The watch party will take place during that day's contest against AIC at 1 p.m.
- Alumni can reserve their spot by contacting assistant women's basketball coach Kelsey Key by email at key005@gannon.edu. All registered alumni will receive a watch party "Spirit Pack." The deadline to register for the event is February 10.
FASTBREAK POINTS
- Gannon extended its three-game win streak over the weekend sweeping Bluefield State at Hammermill Center.
- The Golden Knights moved up to No. 17 in the latest D2SIDA Top 25 Poll and No. 22 in the WBCA Top 25 Poll. Gannon stayed at No. 3 in the final D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll this week.
- Gannon has won its last seven consecutive meetings with Clarion and leads the all-time series, 42-15.
- The Golden Knights are holding their opponents to 52.0 points per game this season, which ranks fifth in the nation. Gannon has held opponents to 50 points or less in four games this season.
- Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) has reached double digits in scoring in her last six straight games. She is averaging a career-best 12.4 points per game this season.

- Head coach Cleve Wright earned his 300th career win after Gannon topped Bluefield State, 55-43, on Sunday afternoon at Hammermill Center. Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) paced the Golden Knights with a team-high 12 points, while Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) added in 11 points and a career-best six assists.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) is closing on her 100th career game as a Golden Knight. She has appeared in 99 career games (72 starts) over four seasons.
ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE
- Gannon has proven to be one of the best defensive teams in the country this season holding its opponents to 52.0 points per game, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division II.
- The Knights have held their opponents to 50 points or less in four games this season, including a season-low 35 points in the season opener against Miles on Jan. 12. It marked the lowest total since Gannon limited Clarion to 33 points on Feb. 19, 2014.
LOTS OF POINTS
- Gannon tallied a season-high 90 points in the win over Bluefield State on Feb. 5 behind a season-best 22 made field goals in the contest. Five Knights contributed at least four field goals with Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) connecting on a game-high seven field goals.
- It was the most points the Knights have scored in a contest since they posted 92 at Lake Erie on Oct. 13, 2019.
MOVING THE BALL AROUND
- As a team, Gannon has passed out 20 or more assists in three games this season, including a season-best 28 assists against Bluefield State on Feb. 5. Four Knights handed out at least four assists in the game with Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) leading the way with a career-best five assists.
GIMME THAT
- As a team, Gannon has reached double digits in steals in its last three games, including a season-high 13 against Bluefield State on Feb. 5. Emily Poling (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) led the way for the Knights with a game-high four steals.
STEPPING UP IN A BIG WAY
- Sam Pirosko (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) has seen her playing time increase through the first eight games of the season and is logging a career-best 27.6 minutes per contest.
- She has reached double digits in scoring in her last six straight games, which is the longest streak of her career. The hot streak was highlighted by a career-high 23-point performance at Daemen on Jan. 31.
THE MITCHELL FILE
- Sydney Mitchell (Baltimore, Md./Seton Keough) has also assembled four straight games of double figure scoring, including a season-high 14 points at Daemen on Jan. 31 and against Bluefield State on Feb. 5.
- On the defensive side, Mitchell is disrupting opponents generating a team-high 18 total steals this season. She's tallied three steals in each of her last three games.
OFF TO A HOT START
- After coming off the bench in all 27 games last season, Emily Poling (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) has moved into the starting five and started all eight games this season.
- She is averaging a career-best 10.6 points per game and has drained a team-high 13 three pointers. Poling has reached double figures in scoring in four of her last five games.
SERIES HISTORY
- Gannon has won its last seven consecutive meetings with Clarion and leads the all-time series, 42-15.
- In their most recent meeting last season, the Golden Knights rolled past the Golden Eagles, 88-61, at Hammermill Center. 12 players reached the scoring column in the win. Delaney Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) posted 10 points with five rebounds.
SCOUTING CLARION
- Clarion enters the week with a 1-2 overall record and most recently came up short against D'Youville, 72-64, on Jan. 31.
- The Golden Eagles are led by seventh year head coach Jana Ashley. She has compiled a 47-124 overall record.
- Devon Adams sets the standard on both ends of the floor for the Golden Eagles with a team-best 12.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. She's posted double digits in scoring in all three games this season, including a season-best 13 points at Roberts Wesleyan on Jan. 22 and D'Youville on Jan. 30.
- Ke'Airah Massiah (11.7) and Abby Gatesman (10.7) are also both averaging double digits in scoring for Clarion.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Gannon returns to action hosting American International for a two-game series at Hammermill Center on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. Tip-off times are set for 1:00 p.m.
