ERIE, Pa – The No. 21-ranked Gannon University men's soccer team plays its second match of the week at Cal U on Saturday, just three days after a 4-0 shutout of Bloomsburg University in which Tinashe Katsande (Norwich, England/Dereham Sixth Form College) scored a hat trick to become the PSAC's leading scorer. His eight goals and 16 total points are both tops in the conference and he has scored at least one goal in five of Gannon's last six matches. Sergio Del Castillo (Madrid, Spain/) is also in the PSAC's top five goalscorers (tied for third-most with four goals.) Saturday's match is the first PSAC West contest of the season for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights have also kept two consecutive clean sheets, keeping both Wheeling and Bloomsburg off of the scoresheet. The team's defense--led by the consistency of Diego Belchi (Valencia, Spain/San Pedro Pascual), Bautista Corti (Manuel Alberti, Argentina/Adultos 2000), and goalkeeper Maximiliano Rocco (Florence, S.C.)--has been solid, with only six goals allowed in 2021 (tied with Seton Hill for best in the conference among teams with more than three games played.)

Gannon's road record against Cal U has been impressive, with 12 wins and just three losses all-time. Cal U has struggled thusfar in 2021 and has lost four of its last five matches. They have allowed the second-most amount of goals (19) in the conference. Offensively, nine different players have scored for the Vulcans--with sophomore Zach Vanek (two goals) the only player to have scored more than once. Junior Trevor Zabilowicz has played every minute in front of goal for the Vulcans, has made 27 saves, and carries a goals-against-average of 2.63.

In the two teams' last meeting, a 2-0 Gannon victory on Oct. 26, 2019, then-freshmen Katsande (two assists) and Del Castillo (a goal) played exceptionally well and are both in-form entering this Saturday's match.
