Golden Knights Put 17 Individuals In Top 6 To Open Season At Mount Union Open

EVENT NOTES

Dunlop cruised to a 4-0 day, with a 4-1 win in the quarterfinals the only win not coming by bonus on his way to the 125-pound title.
Means put up two first-period falls and an 18-0 tech on his way to a 4-1 day at 149.
Farenchak won his first three bouts to reach the 165 final, where his only loss of the day came to the same opponent who handed Connor Day (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois Central) his lone defeat in Belmont Abbey's Greg Hilliard. The duo combined for three pins, a tech fall and a major.
Leise got a 7-0 win in his first match of the day then recorded two falls in a combined 3:41 in the semis and final to grab the 184 title.
Vollmer breezed through the first two rounds with a pin and a 21-8 major before gutting out a 6-4 win in the 133 'B' bracket final to earn a spot atop the podium.
24 of Gannon's 27 competitors picked up at least one win on the day, and 18 achieved multiple victories. Overall, the Knights went 58-41, recording 18 pins, six tech falls and six majors.

UP NEXT

Gannon will face its first dual action of the season next week, taking on Division I Long Island Saturday at Edinboro.
