Gannon Men’s Swim Team Records Six Podium Finishes on Third Day of PSAC Championships

Event: 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Swimming Championships
Location: Graham Aquatic Center – York, Pa.
Competing Teams: Bloomsburg, Clarion, Edinboro, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Shippensburg and West Chester
Result: Gannon sits fifth out of seven teams.
The Short Story: The Gannon men's swimming team had five individual podium finishes Friday night, while the 800-yard freestyle relay placed third at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships in York, Pa.

GANNON'S INDIVIDUAL PODIUM FINISHES

Allan Collins (East Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) – 100-Yard Backstroke – 50.87 (5th Place) … Collins recorded his personal-best time in the 100-yard backstroke to take home fifth place … his prelims time of 51.15 qualified him for the finals Friday night.
Bryce Ebel (Summerville, Ore./La Grande) – 500-Yard Freestyle – 4:40.41 (6th Place) … Ebel clocked his career-best time Friday night to place sixth in the 500-yard free … he swam a time of 4:42.33 in the prelims earlier in the day.
Thomas Marshall (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) – 500-Yard Freestyle – 4:46.51 (8th Place) … Marshall recorded a time of 4:41.39 in the prelims Friday morning to reach the finals … it was his third individual podium finish of the week.
Maciej Skrzypczak (Meriden, Conn./Platt) – 100-Yard Backstroke – 52.22 (8th Place) … Skrzypczak finished eighth in the 100-yard back … he clocked a time of 52.31 in the prelims.
Cole Davis (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg) – 200-Yard Butterfly – 1:55.85 (8th Place) … Davis swam a season-best time of 1:55.17 in Friday's prelims to reach the finals.
800-Yard Freestyle Relay – 6:55.77 (3rd Place) … Luke Engel (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore), Collins, Ebel and Marshall clocked their best time of the season to place third in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

ADDITIONAL GANNON RESULTS

Zachary Werstler (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) reached the finals in the 500-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 4:52.24 in the prelims. In the finals, he placed 15th with a time of 4:56.07.
Ian Morgan (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South) placed 16th in the 500-yard freestyle finals with a time of 4:58.15.
Eric Booth (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) swam a personal-best time of 59.88 to reach the finals in the 100-yard breaststroke. He placed 16th with a time of 1:00.09.

Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 5 p.m.
