  • How It Happened: The Lady Knights fended off Daemen, 68-64, behind a 29-point outburst from Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark). The Lady Knights were 47.1% from the field (24-of-51), while Daemen shot 24 of 65 (36.9%).
 
GANNON STORYLINES/NOTES:
  • The Lady Knights return home following an extended trip to Fairbanks, Alaska that spanned over 10,000 miles. The Lady Knights flew from Pittsburgh to Seattle and then to Fairbanks.
  • Gannon (4-2), ranked ninth in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll, is coming off a season-best .529 (27-of-51) from the field in a 74-65 triumph over Alaska Fairbanks.
  • Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) tallied a season-high 18 points to go along with nine boards in the Lady Knights victory over the Nanooks. LaCava was named to the 2018 North Star Invitational All-Tournament Team.
  • Gannon freshman guard Boston McKinney (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) garnered the PSAC West Freshman of the Week award for the second time in three weeks. Along with classmate Tori Obenrader (Fryburg, Pa./North Clarion), McKinney enters the matchup averaging 8.0 points/game.
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) continues to lead the Lady Knights in scoring at 12.8 points/game. The Gibsonia, Pa. native recently passed the 600-point plateau in her college career following a 10-point performance against Alaska Fairbanks.
  • Aiora Rivas (Ibiza, Spain/IES CTEIB) has begun to see an increased role on the offensive end of late, notching season-high scoring outputs in each of the last two games for the Lady Knights. Rivas, a transfer from Detroit Mercy, recorded seven points on 3-of-4 shooting her last time out against Alaska Fairbanks.
  • Head coach Jim Brunelli enters the matchup just five wins shy of 100 career victories at the helm of the Lady Knights.
  • The Lady Knights enter Wednesday's matchup winning their four games by an average margin of 9.75 points.
  • While LaCava and Obenrader lead the way in rebounding for Gannon, pulling down 6.2 boards/game each. Rourke and Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) are tied for second on the team in rebounding, snaring 34 boards each to start the season. This balanced effort has helped Gannon rank fourth in the PSAC with 237 rebounds in 2018-19.
 
SCOUTING DAEMEN COLLEGE:
  • In what will be the third of seven consecutive road games, the Wildcats (2-3) are aiming to bounce back from a pair of losses in the Eckerd College Thanksgiving Classic in Florida.
  • Daemen will be making its first trip to Gannon's Hammermill Center since Dec. 3, 2007.
  • Daemen features a young roster with just two seniors. While the Wildcats have three juniors, nine of the 14 players are either freshmen or sophomores.
  • Tiara Filbert paces the Wildcats in scoring (14.0 PPG) while Erin Egan is also averaging double figures (10.8 PPG).
  • Head coach Jenepher Banker is no stranger to the Erie basketball scene, serving as the head coach at Penn State Behrend from 1989-93. Banker led the Wildcats to their first-ever appearance in the ECC Championship Tournament.
  • The Erie connections with Daemen don't stop with Banker, as the Wildcats notched a 74-67 home win over PSAC opponent Mercyhurst back on November 15. Tiara Filbert scored a career-high 21 points in the victory while Katie Titus picked up her first career double-double in the team's home-opener.
  • Daemen was picked eighth in the 2018-19 ECC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll.
