Gannon Men's Golf Team Ranked Ninth in Latest NCAA Regional Rankings; Closes In On Fourth Consecutive NCAA Berth

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon men's golf team remained ninth for the second consecutive poll in the NCAA Division II Atlantic regional rankings released this weekend. The rankings only considered results through Sunday, April 10.

Charleston (W.Va.) assumed the region's top spot. Indiana (Pa.), Mercyhurst, California (Pa.) and West Chester completed the top five. West Liberty (W.Va.), Millersville, Shepherd (W.Va.), Gannon and Clarion rounded out the top 10.

Ten teams from each of the eight regions across the country will be invited to participate in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Three automatic qualifiers will be given to the champions of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Mountain East Conference (MEC) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Mercyhurst, Shepherd and Chowan have already secured those automatic berths.

Seven more teams in the Atlantic region will be given at-large bids to participate in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional hosted by Le Moyne College May 2-4 at the Timber Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, New York.

With Chowan not being ranked and taking the 10th seed, the top nine teams will participate in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional. Gannon is expected to finish among the top nine after defeating Clarion at the Gannon Spring Invitational played Saturday at the Whispering Woods Golf Club. The NCAA Division II Tournament selections will be released Friday, April 22.

Head coach Dustin Coleman's squad concludes the regular season Sunday, April 17 and Monday, April 18 at the Mercyhurst Spring Invitational hosted by Lake View Country Club.
