WASHINGTON, PA– It was slightly warmer in Washington, PA, on Tuesday. And that did the Golden Knights wonders. Gannon came back from a ten shot team deficit to claim the team crown at the Vulcan Fire Classic in Washington, PA.

On the individual side, Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) took home the win with the best score in the field at four under par, his first win of the year. It's the fourth win as a team overall for the Golden Knights this season.

THE KNIGHT CAP

  • Individual Crown- Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) battled the elements all week and secured the individual title with a four-under round of 67 on Tuesday. He was the lone golfer in the 70 player field to finish under par, and the round ties his season low, previously set at the UC Invitational.
  • Not Far Behind -  Reigning PSAC men's athlete of the week Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) finished inside the top ten, shooting four-over for the tournament.
  • Other Results -  Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) had a tremendous second round, shooting a two-under 70, including an eagle at the par five 16th to climb 29 spots up the leaderboard ... Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) had a round of 77 to finish just outside the top 30 ... Filip Anderson (Täby, Sweden/Österåkers Gymnasium), playing as an individual, had a strong 36 hole tourney, finishing 22nd.
  • Team Title - The Golden Knights, 10 shots off the lead coming into the day, stormed back to take the team title by three strokes over four teams.. It's their fourth team win of the season and first since October 12th-13th (Bud Elwell Invite).

THE NEXT ROUND

Gannon will travel to the Findianapolis Intercollegiate on March 30th and 31st in Laconia, IND.
