The Short Story: The Gannon women's water polo team closed the regular season with a split at the Indiana Tournament Sunday. The Lady Knights opened the day with a 13-4 victory over Notre Dame (Ohio) before falling to 12th nationally-ranked and host Indiana, 18-3. Freshman
Alison Cooney (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy) scored four combined goals on the day to lead the Lady Knights' offense.

Liz Barr (Honolulu, Hawaii / 'Iolani School) gave the Lady Knights an early 1-0 lead before taking a 3-0 advantage in the opening two minutes. Freshmen

- The Lady Knights added two more goals in the second quarter for a 7-0 lead, holding Notre Dame (Ohio) scoreless in the first half of the match. Junior

- Bednarek recorded her second goal of the match a minute and 26 seconds into the third. The Falcons broke their scoring slump 5:19 into the third quarter to put the score at 8-1. The Lady Knights extended their lead to 10-1 half way through the third.
- Following a strike from the Falcons one second under the midpoint of the third, the Lady Knights tallied three straight goals to close out the third with a 13-2 lead. Two of the goals came in the final two minutes of the third from Williamson and freshman

- The Falcons scored the final two goals of the match in the fourth, as the Lady Knights earned a 13-4 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED- Indiana secured a 10-1 lead in the first quarter, striking four times in the opening two minutes. Trailing 6-0, Gannon broke the stretch of Hoosiers' goals with a tally from Williamson. In the closing 3:36 of the first frame, IU pushed their lead to 10-1.
- Heading into the break, Indiana earned a 12-1 lead with a pair of second-quarter tallies.
- The Hoosiers held the Lady Knights scoreless in both the second and third quarters for a 15-1 advantage.
- Following two Indiana scores in the opening two minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lady Knights struck with back-to-back goals to close the 18-3 loss.
MATCH NOTES- Cooney and Williamson compiled all three Lady Knight goals with Cooney scoring two of the three.

UP NEXTGannon concludes the regular season with a 3-13 overall mark. The host Lady Knights will next compete in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championship April 24-26, at the SPIRE Institute. The seeding for the three-day event will be announced early in the upcoming week as determined via a vote of the league's coaches.
