GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • A day after jumping out to a 7-0 lead in game one, Gannon raced out to a 3-0 advantage during Saturday's first game. Freshman Charles Benack (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) reached on a fielding error and moved to second on a single by redshirt senior Jeff Bellanca (Grand Island, N.Y. / St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute). Senior Sean Sutton (Toronto, Ontario / Brebeuf College) then blasted a three-run shot to left field for a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
  • Seton Hill countered with nine consecutive runs. The Griffins scored once in the first, three times in the second and five times in the fourth.
  • Gannon managed one more run during the top of the sixth inning. The Golden Knights loaded the bases with no outs after a Benack walk, Bellanca single and Sutton single. One out later, Benack scored on an RBI ground-out by freshman Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville).
  • Head coach Nate Cocolin's club put runners on first and second during the top of the seventh inning, before a double play ended the contest.
