LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Gannon women's water polo team dropped a pair of games during the first day of the Bucknell Tournament. The Lady Knights fell to Brown 20-6 before coming up on the short end of a 14-11 decision with Siena.
The Lady Knights fell behind early against Brown, being out-scored 6-2 in the first quarter and 7-2 in the second.
Gannon added one goal in each the third and fourth quarter but Brown added four and three scores respectively to take the game by a 20-6 final.
In goal, Jenelle Bartman (Darien, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) finished with nine blocks.
Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif. / Tustin) netted two scores for Gannon.
In the second game Gannon battled close with Siena, but was out-scored 4-2 in the fourth quarter to lose by a 14-11 final. Siena opened the game with three scores in the first while Gannon netted just one.
However, the Lady Knights won the second quarter with a 3-2 scoring advantage to make the score 5-4 at the half. Each team exploded for five goals in the third quarter before Siena's fourth-quarter scoring led to a win.
Libbie Guina (Houston, Texas / Clear Brook) recorded nine blocks in goal for the Lady Knights.
Emily Sullivan led the Gannon offense with four goals. Andrews netted three while
Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill. / Lyons Township) and
Kelsey Rzymek (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) each scored twice.
