Clarion Tri-Meet Complete Results
CLARION, Pa. – The Gannon swimming and diving teams won four events and recorded seven Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times Saturday afternoon at the Clarion Tri-Meet featuring Clarion, Gannon and Edinboro.
The men's squad split two match-ups, defeating local rival Edinboro 111-92 and falling to Clarion 145-93. On the women's side, Gannon dropped a 130-93 decision to Edinboro and a 158-83 verdict to Clarion.
Ethan Chase (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and
Nick Wolhaupter (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) won gold medals for the men's team. Chase touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly with a PSAC-qualifying time of 53.46 seconds.
Wolhaupter secured Gannon's second title in the 100-yard freestyle. The first-place time of 48.48 was his second conference-qualifying time of the day after a 1:49.13 time in the 200-yard freestyle, resulting in a second-place finish.
Other Golden Knights to meet conference standards included
Kyle Lazenby (Erie, Pa./McDowell) during a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (54.95),
Nathan Bean (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) during a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (54.10) and
Adam Chrzanowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) during a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:15.84).
Katie Joseph (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) was the lone individual winner for the women's team. The freshman completed the 50-yard freestyle in 25.54 seconds. She then became a double-winner as part of the winning 200-freestyle relay team. The foursome of Joseph, Michelle Fischl (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem), Amanda Knapp (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) and
Kaitlyn Bosy (Courtice, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary) posted a winning time of one minute and 40.84 seconds.
Katie Vincent (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) added the final PSAC-qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning a fourth-place finish in one minute and 9.77 seconds.
The men's team completed its dual-meet season with a 6-6 record while the women's squad finished 10-5. Both teams conclude the regular season Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 at the Indiana (Pa.) Invitational.
