Gannon Women's Basketball Team Heads to California (Pa.) for Final Road Game of the Season

The Gannon women's basketball team will conclude the road schedule on Saturday at California (Pa.)
Gannon will play its final road game of the season on Saturday, February 19 against California (Pa.). The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

The Lady Knights will try to rebound from a 66-56 loss to Mercyhurst on Wednesday. Gannon is led by Julie Kleber (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern), who has scored double digit points for Gannon the last eight straight games. The contest will be the final regular-season game played at Hamer Hall as the Vulcans are set to move to a new arena next season.

California (Pa.) is currently fifth in the region and receiving votes in the national poll. As a team the Vulcans are fourth in rebounding margin (9.9) nationally. Kayla Smith is leading the way with 19.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. The senior is second in the country in rebounds and 10th in field goal percentage (58.2)

The Gannon-California (Pa.) series has turned into one of the best rivalries in the PSAC since the Lady Knights joined the league. Saturday's game will mark the eighth time the two schools have faced off in the last three seasons. The current series is tied at 11 with both teams earning postseason wins the last two years. In 2008-09 Cal ended Gannon's season with a win in the NCAA Tournament. The following year, Gannon knocked off Cal in the PSAC Championship game.
