ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon swimming and diving teams broke four pool records and posted 21 more Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times during a dual-meet split against NCAA Division I Canisius Saturday afternoon at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion. The women's team secured a 154.5-86.5 victory while the men fell 132.5-108.5.

The Gannon women's 400-yard medley relay team kicked off the dual meet with some fireworks, breaking the pool record during the first event of the afternoon. The team of Rachel King (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena), Katie Vincent (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus), Jackie Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) set the new mark in four minutes and 6.84 seconds.

It was the first of three pool records broken on the women's side. Rzymek reset a pool record that she initially broke last season with a 100-yard butterfly time of 59.39 seconds. Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) later set the 100-yard backstroke pool record in 1:00.23.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Rzymek, Sarah Anderson (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Hess and Bosy capped the day with a time of 3:41.51 for another first-place finish.

Three more Lady Knights posted PSAC-qualifying times during Saturday's meet: Hess in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.33), King in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.60) and Christina Ruggiero (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:01.53, season-best).

Mitchel Meighen (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) highlighted the action on the men's side with a pool record and two conference-qualifying times. The senior set the new pool mark in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall first in 59.44 seconds. He earlier finished second in the 200-yard IM with another qualifying time of two minutes and 1.55 seconds. The time tied his season-best, accomplished before at the Mid-Season Invitational.

Luke Curtis (Adelaide, South Australia/Blackfriars Priory) was the only other individual winner on the men's side, capturing the 500-yard freestyle for the third time this season with a PSAC-qualifying time of four minutes and 47.69 seconds. The freshman doubled up on his qualifying times with a second-place finish and a season-best 1:48.20 time in the 200-yard freestyle.

Hodson accomplished the feat in the 50-yard freestyle (22.16, season-best) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.31). Chase did it in the 50-yard freestyle (22.20, season-best) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.04).
