Biography

Nicolia is Gannon’s returning starter at second base as a senior in 2018.

2017: Saw action in 37 games, starting 34 at second base … batted in six different spots in the lineup, including 12 starts as the lead-off hitter and 10 starts in the ninth spot … ranked second among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) players in sacrifice hits per game (0.14) … had five sacrifice hits, representing the 14th-highest single-season total in program history … produced a .426 on-base percentage, equaling the 17th-highest single-season mark in school history … finished second among Golden Knights in batting average (.357), on-base percentage and triples (2) … hit .363 (33-91) against right-handers, .356 (16-45) with runners on base, .358 (19-53) with the bases empty, .353 (12-34) with runners in scoring position and .485 (16-33) with two outs … reached base 47.2 percent (17-36) of the time when leading off an inning … drove home a run 75 percent (6-8) of the time when hitting with a runner on third base and less than two outs … produced seven two-out RBIs … recorded eight multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI performances … generated a season-high eight-game hit streak April 21-30 … hit .357 (10-28) with four runs, two doubles and two triples during the streak … had a six-game hit streak March 3-24 that included a .471 (8-17) batting average, three runs, three RBIs and two walks … scored multiple runs in a game four times … posted season-highs in hits (3) and RBI (3) during four at-bats in a 15-2 victory against Wheeling Jesuit at the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida … went 1-for-1 with a season-high three walks, one run, two RBIs and one double against Indiana (Pa.) … finished a home doubleheader against Mercyhurst 4-for-8 with three runs, one RBI and two triples … went errorless in 18 consecutive games March 3-April 17, spanning 45 fielding opportunities.

2016: Played in eight games, starting one … saw time as a second baseman, designated hitter, pinch runner and pinch hitter … went 1-for-2 with one run during his season debut in a 17-1 victory against Wheeling Jesuit at the Russ-Matt Invitational … received lone start during a 4-2 eight-inning victory at Findlay as a designated hitter … added runs against the University of Mary and Indiana (Pa.) … was errorless in all eight games, spanning four fielding opportunities.

2015: Saw action in 10 games as a true freshman, starting nine … made all nine starts at second base … received all 22 plate appearances for the season during the Russ-Matt Invitational … recorded a hit during his only plate appearance with the bases loaded … reached base 75 percent (3-4) of the time when leading off an inning … drove home a run during all four plate appearances with a runner on third base and less than two outs … made his collegiate debut during the second game of a season-opening doubleheader at Limestone … recorded his first career run, walk and stolen base against the Saints … started his first two career games the following day during a twinbill at Limestone … recorded his first career hit during a 10-5 victory in the opener … went 1-for-3 with one run, three RBIs, one walk and one stolen base in the nightcap … recorded his first career multiple-hit game during a 5-2 win against Lewis, going 2-for-3 with one run and one walk … drove home a season-high four runs against Grand Valley State … finished 1-for-1 with four walks against the Lakers … drew a walk in seven of 10 games, including his first four.

High School: Played for head coach Dean Santorio at Grand Island (N.Y.)
