Vargo returns with bullpen experience as a redshirt senior in 2018 … transferred from Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Tiffin prior to the 2015-16 academic year.

2017: Made 11 appearances on the mound, including 10 out of the bullpen … limited opposing left-handed hitters to a .222 (8-36) average … held the opposition to a .239 (11-46) average with the bases empty and .243 (9-37) average with two outs … tossed a complete game during his only start of the season, resulting in a 5-3 victory against Tiffin at the Russ-Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Florida … allowed two earned runs and struck out a season-high eight compared to only one walk against the Dragons … came out of the pen to throw 3 2/3 scoreless innings against Notre Dame (Ohio), striking out four and walking one … ended the campaign with a scoreless inning of relief at Mercyhurst.

2016: Saw action in 15 games during his first season at Gannon, starting eight … made seven appearances on the mound and eight in the field … was the starting pitcher during his first two appearances, but coming out of the bullpen the next five times … allowed only one run during three of his five relief efforts … struck out a season-high three hitters against Wheeling Jesuit and California (Pa.) … went 2-for-4 with one double, one run and two RBIs as a designated hitter during his first non-pitching start, helping produce an 8-0 victory against Cleary at the Russ-Matt Invitational … ripped an RBI triple during a 3-2 win in the nightcap against Cleary … saw playing time as a pitcher, first baseman, designated hitter and pinch hitter … was errorless in all 15 games, spanning 44 fielding opportunities.

High School: Played for head coach Dennis Philblad at Clearview (Ohio) High School … was a four-year letterwinner … named to the all-conference first team three times … was a two-time All-Lorain County first-team selection … earned All-Northeast Ohio District first-team accolades twice … named team MVP twice … was a two-sport athlete, lettering twice with the football team … named to the all-county first team and all-conference second team in football … was a four-time Academic All-Patriot Athletic Conference selection.
