GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomores Tommy Koroly (Mars, Pa./North Catholic) and Cainen Atherton (Mount Union, Pa./Mount Union Area) of the Gannon University Baseball team earned selection to the 2026 ABCA NCAA Division II Atlantic Region All-Defensive Team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced Thursday afternoon.

The ABCA NCAA Division II All-Defensive Teams recognize the top defensive player at each position from every region across the country. Student-athletes are selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association based on their defensive performance throughout the season.

Koroly earned recognition at second base, while Atherton was selected at third base after helping anchor Gannon's infield throughout the 2026 season.

Koroly and Atherton were two of nine student-athletes selected to the Atlantic Region squad. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference accounted for six of the nine honorees, with Gannon joining Seton Hill, West Chester, Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg as the conference's representatives.

Koroly earned All-Defensive Team honors at second base after compiling a perfect fielding percentage during the 2026 season. The sophomore started 32 games at second base and finished the year with 57 putouts and 58 assists without committing an error in 115 total chances. He also helped turn 13 double plays during the season. At the plate, Koroly batted .253 with 22 hits, 20 runs scored, 12 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

Atherton earned All-Defensive Team honors at third base after starting all 47 games at the hot corner for the Golden Knights. The sophomore posted a .959 fielding percentage with 30 putouts and 109 assists in 145 chances while helping anchor Gannon's infield. He also turned four double plays during the season. Atherton made an impact offensively as well, batting .243 with 28 hits, six doubles, four home runs, 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
