Gannon Extends Lead to 11 Strokes at PSAC Championships

Petersen holds three stroke lead in individual race

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – A total of 18 holes seperate the Gannon women's golf team from an unprecedented sixth straight PSAC championship. The Golden Knights completed day two of the 2025 PSAC Championships with an 11-stroke lead over West Chester. The 54-hole event is being held at the Berkleigh Golf Club.

No team had ever won five straight PSAC Championships until Gannon did so a year ago. After facing demanding conditions that saw just two players shoot under 80 on Friday, the Golden Knights extended their lead over West Chester by seven strokes after holding just a four-shot lead after 18 holes.

While scores remained high with just eight golfers hooting sub-80 rounds, Gannon cut 11 strokes off Friday's total, finishing at 25-over par 313 for a 36-hole total of 637, 61-over par. That represented the lowest four-person total of the day as West Chester was next at 320 for a 648 total.

Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) was able to add two strokes to her individual lead as the senior from Denmark finished with a 4-over par 76 following an opening-day 78 for a 36-hole total of 10-over 154. Petersen is looking to win her third straight PSAC championship. That was the low round of the day and Petersen is the only golfer in the field with two rounds in the 70's.

Petersen shot an even-par 35 on the front nine but then had to overcome a stretch of four straight bogies to start the back nine. She righted herself with a birdie on the 476-yard par 5 16th hole, then finished up with a pair of pars. She leads by three strokes over  Morgan Kunze of West Chester and Kutztown's Brooke Graham who are tied for second at 157 (+13).

Four Golden Knights are in the top ten as Gannon had three of the eight golfers to finish under 80. Freshman Alexandria LeCureux (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and Cloe Mateo (Sabadell, Spain/Montcau la Mola) each shot 78's, with LeCureux tied for fourth place at 15-over 159. Like LeCureux, Petersen's round featured two birdies as she shot 2-under 33 on the front nine. Mateo is in sixth place at 16-over 160.

The third and final round gets started at 9:00 a.m. with Gannon golfers teeing off starting at 11:10 a.m.
