Gannon Finishes in a Tie for Fourth at Cecil C. Spadafora IUP Invitational

INDIANA, Pa. – The Gannon men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth place out of 13 teams in the Cecil C. Spadafora IUP Invitational. Another cold, windy day brought high scores as Gannon shot 307 on day two at Indiana Country Club, three shots better than Monday's 310 total. That left the Golden Knights at 617 overall, tied with Davis & Elkins.
 
Charleston (WV) came from a stroke back after Monday's round to capture first place with a 610 total, 42-over par. That was six strokes better than host Indiana (Pa.) and California (Pa.) at 616. The tournament featured many of the top teams in the Atlantic Region.   
 
Charleston's Erik Ulvang captured medalist honors with rounds of 73 and 75 for a 148 total, 6-over par. He won by a stroke over IUP's Alex Swinnerton, IUP and Carlos FernandezMortera of Charleston (WV), who came in at 149, 7-over par.
 
Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) was Gannon's top finisher at 152, 10-over par. The redshirt sophomore from Sweden shot 77 on Monday followed by a 75 on Tuesday.
 
Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) turned in Gannon's best round of the day at 3-over par 74. That was considerably better than his opening day 80. He climbed 21 spots on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 15th at 154, 12-over par.
 
Gannon will have an opportunity to see many of the same teams this coming week when the Golden Knights host the 36-hole NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Preview. The two-day tournament takes place on Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22 at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
