Parrini Ties for Third to Lead Golden Knights at Findianapolis Invitational

LACONIA, Ind. – The Gannon men's golf team finished in sixth place fifth place as the Findianapolis Intercollegiate concluded play on Tuesday. The ten participating teams played 36 holes on Monday at Chariot Run Golf Course and finished with another 18 on Tuesday.

Conditions were much more favorable for low scores on Tuesday but no one could pressure Charleston (WV). The Golden Eagles entered Tuesday with a seven-stroke lead and maintained that while holding off second place Saginaw Valley State. Charleston shot 291 (+3) on Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole total of 869, 5-over par. Saginaw Valley State ended at 876 (+12).  

Gannon finished with a four-man total of 292 for the final 18 holes, 4-over par. The Golden Knights ended a plus-18 total of 882.
Logan Mayo of Missouri St. Louis captured the individual title with a one-stroke victory over Evan Klein of Saginaw Valley State. Mayo shot a 70 on Tuesday to finish at 5-under 211.

Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) earned a top-five finish as the sophomore from Italy ended in a tie for third place at 214. After shooting rounds of 73 and 69 on Monday he came back with an even-par 72 on Tuesday for a 214 total.

Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) added a 73 on Tuesday to move up two spots into a for 14th place at 220. Parrini and Delorenzi each had three birdies in their rounds.

The Golden Knights return to action on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16 at the Cecil B. Spadafora IUP Invitational.
