Petersen Paces Gannon after First Day at Findianapolis Intercollegiate

LACONIA, Ind. – The Gannon women's golf team looks forward to a new day on Tuesday after suffering through an off day in the first day of competition at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate. Facing a strong field along with less than ideal playing conditions the Golden Knights are ninth out of ten teams. The teams played 36 holes on Monday at Chariot Run Golf Course and will play another 18 on Tuesday.

Findlay enjoyed an impressive day while playing in damp and windy conditions finishing with a 14-over total of 590. That is 20 strokes better than the Oilers closest competitor, Missouri St. Louis, who finished at 610. Gannon shot rounds of 329-323 for a 652 total (+76).

Findlay had the top two individual performers with Ashleigh Duflo sitting at even-par 144 and teammate Erin Mulcahy two strokes behind at 146. Ditte Petersen (Dianalund, Denmark/Sorø Akademi Skole) is Gannon's leader on the individual scoreboard. The two-time PSAC Athlete of the Year opened with a 78 and shot 77 on her second round for a 155 total (+11). She had four of Gannon's 11 birdies on the day with Alexandria LeCureux (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) also posting four birdies.

The teams will return to the course on Tuesday for the final 18 holes.
