Parrini in Fourth Place, Gannon Tied for Fifth after First Day at Findianapolis Intercollegiate

LACONIA, Ind. – The Gannon men's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first day of competition at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate. The ten participating teams played 36 holes on Monday at Chariot Run Golf Course and will play another 18 on Tuesday.

Despite damp and windy conditions Charleston (WV) turned in an impressive pair of rounds and sits in first place with a 578 total (+2), seven strokes better than Missouri St. Louis and Ohio Dominican.

The Golden Knights got off to slow start with 15-over par total of 303 in the opening round. But they battled back in the afternoon with a one-under 287 aggregate in the play five, count four format.

Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) and Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) each shot 69s in the second round with Parrini showing a bogey-free round with three birdies. The sophomore from Italy shot 73 for the opening 18 holes and sits in fourth place at 2-under 142. There is a three-way tie for first place at 3-under 141.

Ruppert rebounded from 78 in the opening round to record four birdies and just one bogey for his 69. He is tied with teammate Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) for 16th place at 147 (+3).
