Ryan Barclay repeats as Men's Swimming Champion Scholar

Recipient of Award For Second Straight Year

York, PA - For a second straight year Gannon's Ryan Barclay (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) was named the PSAC Men's Swimming Champion Scholar. The award was presented during Thursday's final day of the 2025 PSAC Swimming Championships in York, PA.

The Gannon men's swimming team has now received the Champion Scholar award four straight years and six of the last seven. Stephen McCaullum was the recipient in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and Joseph Deemer earned the honor in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The award was first instituted in 2011-12.

Barclay receives the award while maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major. The senior from Knoxville, Tenn., has maintained this grade point average through 140 credit hours, while pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's finals sites. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.

Congratulations to Ryan for his tremendous accomplishment, along with his success in the pool during his time at Gannon.
