Gannon freshman defender Maddie Miller (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) has earned PSAC West Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week honors after a strong two-match stretch that featured her first collegiate goal and a key role in leading the Golden Knights to another unbeaten week in conference play.
Miller helped anchor a Gannon back line that allowed just one goal across two matches, including a 3–0 shutout victory over Slippery Rock in a clash between the top two teams in the PSAC West. She also scored her first collegiate goal, a long-distance strike that landed at No. 4 on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 Plays.
The honor marks the first PSAC weekly accolade of Miller's career and the fourth time this season a Golden Knight has been recognized in women's soccer.
Behind her efforts, the Golden Knights extended their unbeaten streak to six matches, improving to 5–0–1 overall and 3–0–1 in conference play.
Gannon held opponents to only 10 total shots across the week, continuing a defensive trend that has seen the Knights record five shutouts this season.
