ERIE, Pa. – Gannon passed its first test as the number two team in Division II with a dominating 3-0 win over Clarion on Wednesday. The Golden Knights improved to 5-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the Western Division. Now they begin a stretch of three straight road games playing at California (Pa.) on Saturday, September 28 at 1:00 p.m.

Head coach Colin Petersen's Golden Knights have outscored their opponents 14-1 with four straight shutouts.  After allowing a goal less than two minutes into the season, Gannon has now held opponents scoreless for 448 consecutive minutes over five games.

On Wednesday Grace Emanuel (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored her first two goals of the season to give her two goals and three assists for seven points. Gannon was playing for the first time since September 14 and in the interim moved up to second in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25.

Emanuel is one half of Gannon's super sophomore tandem. Brooklyn Respecki (McKean, Pa./General McLane) continued her stellar play with a goal to give her seven on the young season. Both Emanuel and Respecki earned All-American honors as freshmen and were first team All-PSAC West honorees, with Respecki named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year after contributing 13 goals and 16 assists for 42 points.

California (Pa.) was picked to finish sixth in the PSAC West preseason poll. The Vulcans are off to a 3-3-1 start along with a 2-2-0 record in the Western Division. They have been stingy defensively, allowing just seven goals in seven matches.
